Leverstock Green exited yet another cup competition at the first hurdle when they were beaten 5-1 at home by Hoddesdon Town in Tuesday night’s Herts Charity Shield first round tie.

The visitors dominated the first half, but Green keeper Matt Fallon kept them out with several good saves before Joss Lillis finally scored ten minutes before the break. The second half saw Hoddesdon run away with it. A deflected free kick from Harrison Cage made it 2-0, Craig Tolley made it 3-0, and an unfortunate error from Fallon gifted a fourth goal to Isaac Marfo-Jacobs. Liam Mulligan made it 5-0 before a late own goal pulled a goal back for Leverstock.
