Saturday 30th July 2011 Pre-season friendly
Harefield United Reserves (1) 1 Mahee 14
Leverstock Green Reserves (0) 3 Norris 53, 54, Josh Bundey 85
at Preston Park

With the first team not in action, Leverstock Green's reserve team took centre stage on Saturday with a friendly at Harefield United. Lee Wakefield's side gave an excellent display, and came back from a goal down at half time to win in a more comfortable manner than the scoreline suggests.

Leverstock made a good start to the match, and almost went in front in the 8th minute when a sweeping move ended with Paul Insley sending over a cross which Leo Mullet just failed to connect with. However, it was Harefield who took the lead in the 14th minute with their first real attack of the game. The Green defence was caught on the break and waiting for an offside flag that never came as Aban Mahee went through to finish with a fine lob from distance. Insley had the best chance for a Green equaliser as he was put clean through in the 23rd minute, but his shot went just wide of the post.

Half-time substitute Joel Norris proved to be the catalyst for the Green revival. Eight minutes into the second half a ball through the middle put Norris through on goal, and he decided against laying off to Insley, slotting the ball under the keeper himself for the equaliser. Barely a minute later Green were threatening again, and Steve Hutchins curled a superb cross to the far post where Norris got up to head home for a 2-1 lead.

Norris had chances to complete his hat-trick, but lobbed just wide on 68 minutes and hit the bar with a shot on 77 minutes. Green keeper Dan Brown kept his side in front as he dived to save a free kick from Mahee on 79 minutes, but the win was assured five minutes from time when Insley played a free kick into the box and Josh Bundey headed home the third goal. Insley could have added another in stoppage time but was denied by a great save from the Harefield keeper.
