Jonathan Lacey has today departed from Leverstock Green F.C. to join Berkhamsted F.C.
JJ first joined the club for season 2015/16 to play for the under-18s. After an impressive season, scoring 6 goals in 21 appearances, he was given a chance in the first team during pre-season for 2016/17, and proved an instant sensation, scoring goals from his debut onwards. JJ went on to score 30 goals in 50 first team appearances during that first season, most of them as a 17-year old, while also continuing to play for the under-18s, scoring 7 goals. His success continued during season 2017/18, scoring 20 goals in 27 appearances despite missing many games due to college commitments and a late-season injury. He picked up his first medal for the club in the St Mary’s Cup final, scoring the first goal in a 3-1 win over Berkhamsted.
JJ has continued to prosper this season, scoring 17 goals in 16 appearances, and attaining his greatest achievement to date in being picked by England ‘C’ manager Paul Fairclough for an FA Representative Squad to travel to the Falkland Islands. It was a great honour for JJ to represent his country and play and score in an England shirt, and a great honour for Leverstock Green F.C. to be represented in such a prestigious event and by such a special player.
JJ has been an integral part of Leverstock Green F.C. for the past four seasons, and he has improved year after year, that improvement being evidenced in his number of goals and assists and his selection for the FA Squad.
We wish him all the best in his new journey and he will always be welcome back to Pancake Lane.
