Friendly round-up

Both the first team and reserves have been involved in pre-season friendlies over the past week.

The first team were beaten 3-2 at Dunstable Town on Tuesday night, twice coming from behind to level the scores, the second with a fine solo goal from Juan Pablo Velasco, but the home side scored the decisive goal.

That was followed up with a 2-1 home defeat to Egham Town on Saturday. In what was a highly competitive game,  a mix-up at the back saw the home side gifted a goal in the 29th minute. Both Joel Onu and Juan Pablo Velasco were denied by superb saves from the Egham keeper in the second half, but the equaliser came in the 71st minute as Matt Forkin scrambled the ball home following a corner. However, five minutes later Egham were back in front as a superb strike from the edge of the box went in off the underside of the bar.

The reserves have also played twice, with a 3-3 draw against a London Lions side on Thursday night being followed by a 2-0 win over AFC Welwyn Development on Saturday at the Baldock Arena.

The first team’s final friendly is on Tuesday night away to Hayes & Yeading United, while the reserves final friendly is away to MK College next Saturday.
