Match Report
Leverstock Green’s three-game winning run ended with Tuesday night’s trip to Arlesey Town. A goal in each half was enough for Arlesey, with a missed penalty proving costly for Leverstock. There were first team debuts in the line-up this evening for under-18 players Kane O’Neil and Lucas Preston.
There was an early chance for Salim Sahnoun, but his shot across goal went wide, and another effort by Alex Condon went wide. Later in the half it was Arlesey who began to create chances, with Rob Partington turning an effort by James Hatch round the post on 24 minutes, but being beaten by a shot from Alex O’Brien five minutes later to put Arlesey 1-0 up.
A series of saves by Partington kept the score at 1-0, and towards the end of the half Alex Yearwood went close to equalising with a shot just over the bar, and a minute before the break a free kick from Sam Nair was tipped over the bar by home keeper Robbie Ponting.
Leverstock had a golden opportunity to equalise on 64 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, but Sahnoun’s kick was saved by Ponting, and six minutes later Ponting saved another free kick from Nair. A second Arlesey goal from Lorrell Smith put the game out of Leverstock’s reach and ensured that they would get the three points.
