The Leverstock Green squad returned to action with an internal friendly played behind closed doors at Pancake Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The game featured the first team squad along with some under-18 and under-16 players. Mick Vipond was in charge of the senior players, wearing the green kit, while Matt Harding took charge of the under-21 players in the yellow kit.
The yellows almost took the lead in the 2nd minute when a screamer of a shot from Ollie Lawford struck the post, but they did take the lead in the 9th minute. Mickey Shuttlewood was caught in possession outside his own box by Ben Wootton, who ran to to slot the ball past Matt Fallon.
The greens levelled the scores in the 19th minute. A cross from Dan Weeks was headed out, but only as far as John Smith, who shot home from the edge of the box through a crowd of players, and two minutes later Jamie Calvin shot home from close range to put the greens 2-1 up. Fallon preserved that lead going into the break, saving with his legs in the 37th minute when Lewis Collins was put through on goal.
Yellow keeper Adi Connolly pulled off a good save in the 55th minute from a Sidney Gueye header, and seconds later at the other end Fallon saved another effort from Collins. However, four minutes later Fallon was beaten by an outrageous chip from the edge of the box from Kian Wilkes to level the scores at 2-2.
In the 81st minutes the yellows took a 3-2 lead as they broke quickly from a green corner. Wootton exchanged passes with Nana Yeboah before shooting past Fallon. However, a minute from time Adiel Mannion was brought down just outside the penalty area, and the resulting free kick was dispatched into the corner of the net by John Smith to leave a final score of 3-3 from an entertaining game.
