Match Report

Leverstock Green got an excellent point from their Bank Holiday Monday fixture against a Potters Bar Town side aiming for an immediate return to Step 3 following relegation last season. The Leverstock side was organised and worked hard throughout the match, and had the better chances to win the game late on.

Timi Bada had a couple of runs into the box early on, but the former Lincoln City academy player was blocked off before he could get a cross in. At the other end Johnny Allottey hit a shot over the in the 10th minute, while in the 22nd minute Ebenezer Kufour broke clear but hit his eventual shot across goal and wide.

Carmicheal Uchenna twice went close for Leverstock, firstly in the 33rd minute when his free kick was turned away by keeper Albi Laci, and two minutes later when he received a cross from Sankou Jabbi at the near post but shot over the bar.

Leverstock were playing up the slope in the second half but showed more attacking threat than the visitors. Joe McCarthy had a chance in the 58th minute when Callum Neal’s cross was deflected into his path by a defender, but couldn’t get his shot away. Ashton Corder came off the bench midway through the half and hit a shot over the bar in the 72nd minute.

Leverstock had their best chance of the game in the 80th minute as a flick from Corder set McCarthy away to deliver a cross which found Jack Allen in space inside the box, but his shot was kept out by Laci. Two minutes later Laci pulled off another great save to keep out a close-range volley from Corder.

At no point did Leverstock settle for the point as they continued to attack throughout stoppage time, and Nat Connolly had two efforts on goal which were only narrowly wide of the target.
